What happens
Alcoy’s version is the most famous of hundreds held across the Valencian region. Day one brings the Christian and Moorish entries, with thousands of festers in elaborate costumes marching to brass bands. Day two is for St George. On day three, the armies fight for the castle in Plaza de España with harquebuses.
When it is held
Around 22 to 24 April, for St George’s Day.
Dates for 2027 are based on the fixed date or the usual rule. Confirm with the organisers or town hall before booking.
Tips
- The entrances on the first day are the most spectacular.
- Grandstand seats can be bought in advance.
How to experience it
- The parades in late April re-enact battles with elaborate costumes.
- Book a seat on the stands for the parades.
